One of the biggest perks of living on the central coast of California is the weather. Seasons are practically nonexistent here, so we don’t get the beautiful fall leaf displays or snowy white winters. But I’m not complaining, especially since I spent my Thanksgiving holiday camping at the beach in shorts and a tank top. I will admit, I spent most of my time hiding in the shade and writing, but there are certainly worse places to write.

As many of you probably know, November is national novel writing month, or NaNoWriMo, and a lot of authors in my Facebook feed have been posting about it. I didn’t officially participate online, but I made it my goal to finish the new segments for my first novel.

I know what you are probably thinking…

“What? New segments? I thought that it was finished!”

Well, I thought it was too! But while I was querying agents, I realized that there was more I needed to add. Now all I need to do is finish editing, and I can start querying again.

It was a difficult decision to go back and add more, especially since I had been convinced that the novel was finished. Mentally I had moved on. But it was a little too short, and the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I wanted to expand upon the world and the characters. Ultimately, I’m glad I did it, even though it cost me over a month of writing time. Now there is more for you to discover, and I am more excited than ever to get it published!
