Theaters, galleries, museums, and elegant buildings galore. Moscow, Russia is by far one of the most intriguing cities I have ever been to. There is an air of elegance, almost as if you have stepped into a different time. No one leaves their homes without being nicely dressed and presentable. They don’t just run out to the grocery store in their sweatpants here. This idea was something I found very refreshing. After all, I love any opportunity to dress up a little and to put that extra little effort into doing my hair and makeup! I even found myself buying a new coat so that I would fit in with the people on the streets.
An interesting building from a market place.
During my three weeks there I spent my time visiting various historical sites, wandering through art galleries and museums, watching theatre productions, hanging around the Moscow Art Theatre, and enjoying little cafes. In all honesty, I probably ate way more cake than I needed to, but the cake in Moscow is so delicious! Then again, it is so cold in Russia in February,( especially when you come from California) that by the time you’ve been walking around the city for a couple of hours, a cup of coffee and a slice of cake sounds amazing!
As a writer I find that I can draw a lot of inspiration from this trip. I even wrote the first few chapters of book two here. But three weeks is a lot of time to spend as a tourist in any one city, so on to my next destination!
