After much consideration, I have decided the path I intend to pursue to for publishing. After attending lectures, reading articles and books, and listening to the experiences that other authors have had, I have finally reached a conclusion. As much as I would love to have the support of a big publishing house behind me, I decided that self-publishing would be a better fit for my personal goals with this series. This doesn’t mean that I won’t consider going through a publishing company in the future, but at the moment this seems like the best route for me to take.

Now that I’ve decided to self-publish, I have a variety of new tasks on my to-do list in order to get the book ready for publication. This week I’ve been looking for cover artists and considering how I would like my cover to look. It’s a bit of a daunting task in a way since this is the first impression people will have of my book. But it is exciting (and fun!) none the less.

Another amazing occurrence had been ordering preview books in print. This was an idea suggested to me for multiple reasons, and since I’m new to formatting files for print on demand books, I thought I would give it a try so I ordered a couple copies. I’ve realized that it’s one thing to look at a manuscript on the computer, but another to actually hold a bound copy of your book, flip through the pages, and realize “Holy crap! I wrote this!”

Overall, I feel like this endeavor is starting to take shape, and once I publish the first book more will quickly follow. Just in case you haven’t seen my updated book blurb, here it is:

Caught By Demons

Laila of Midgard Series Book 1

By Kathryn Blanche

Elves love order. Unfortunately for Special Agent Laila Eyvindr, the post-apocalyptic city of Los Angeles, CA is anything but orderly. In fact, it’s borderline chaos. Even her new team with the Interrealm Security Agency (IRSA), has little regard for protocol.

Amid this turmoil, Supernatural men are going missing at an alarming rate and rumors speak of a dark force emerging. Laila starts digging for answers and finds herself caught in an ambush. She’ll have to fight for her survival as a modern-day gladiator if she hopes to live long enough to escape.

Until next time!
